At some point, someone at Lucasfilm/Disney is going to have to take a long hard look at herself in the mirror and ask if all this drama is really the product of a coincidental and inexplicable run of pesky, opinionated directors or if there might be a more fundamental problem going on here.

I agree that the new Star Wars are 1 for 2 but it appears as though that might be kind of a minority opinion and the larger cultural landscape doesn’t seem to see it that way (there are also plenty of people who like ‘Rogue One’ and not ‘The Force Awakens’). So it’s hard to make the comparison to DC because, so far anyway, the results of the big-time studio meddling have not actually had a negative effect on the bottom line. ‘Rogue One’ was still a big hit in the North American market and ticket sales didn’t drop nearly as much on its second or third weekend as they did with the two DC duds of 2016 (only one of which was a major creative compromise, by the way). In a way, I truly hope that one of these Star Wars movies (preferably the ‘Han Solo’ movie) is an enormous failure and that way they may actually start to second guess their strategy of “course-correcting” in the long-term. But it truly may have no effect as it seems that ‘Star Wars’ is an almost bullet-proof brand in certain markets as long as it adheres to certain restrictions (i.e., always bank on nostalgia above all else).

New Star Wars are 1 for 2, increasingly clusterfucked, Trevorrow is a hack and could never have satisfactorily followed Johnson, whose vision could be compromised as well.
