They are asking for a lot of audience backlash if they release a movie called "The Bourne Legacy" without the character Jason Bourne.
The last Treadstone assassin (other than JB) was killed off in Supremacy. However, there are Blackbriar assassins still around. But if they are working on a new series, they could start the next movie anywhere in the JB timeline.
Since they hired Gilroy, I doubt they will introduce elements that contradict the previous 3 films, unless there are pieces that Doug Liman and Paul Greengrass or the other screen writers changed that annoyed Tony Gilroy and TG wants to put those story elements back in.

I'm totally down with them doing movies on other agents, but did Bourne kill all the other Tredstone agents in the first movie? I still don't know well it will work though.

I think these facts very much suggest a Bourne Movie without Jason Bourne.

Is it possible that they would make a Bourne movie without the character of Jason Bourne? Or would they recast?
