					<description><![CDATA[I think having options is good. I have a family of 4, even with coupons bought from Costco it costs me $50 to go see a movie. Not every movie I&#039;d like to see is worth that. (more importantly, it&#039;s not worth some of the drivel that is kids movies is worth it) so having Netflix or even renting the movie through a streaming service is a nice option to have. 

Families have only so much disposible income, so yes maybe they see less movies in the theatre... blame the rising costs of going on that, not Netflix or other streaming services.]]></description>

Currently, it is popular to see the two distribution models as competing revenue models but this is a very limited way to look at it. A smarter way to look at it as complimentary promotional opportunities, a billboard for the primary distribution window. For example, a robust theatrical distribution of &quot;Okja&quot; or &quot;War Machine&quot; would elevate the status and awareness of those properties when they finally land as exclusives on the Netflix service. Conversely, streaming creates a huge promotional opportunity for theatrical. Fox did its &quot;Alien&quot;/Prometheus&quot; and &quot;Planet of the Apes&quot; franchises a terrible disservice by withholding them from Netflix. Both franchises faced a significant theatrical attendance drop in their latest installments. Fox should have rolled both previous installments onto Netflix 180 days out from the newest installments, not as a revenue strategy but as a promotional strategy for the upcoming installments. The single biggest indicator for someone purchasing a theatrical ticket for a franchise sequel is whether they saw and liked the previous installment. Why try to compel resistant audiences into theaters with a $70 million dollar ad buy when you could do so much heavy lifting by simply giving the previous installment away via streaming? Rather than looking at a Netflix deal for &quot;Dawn&quot; and &quot;Prometheus&quot; as &quot;distribution&quot; they should have viewed it as the equivalent of a national ad buy for &quot;Alien Covenant&quot; and &quot;WFTPOTA&quot;.]]></description>
