There's a whole world of jazz, classical, world music, etc. that i need to listen to. I'm ravenous. I wanna know more and more. Yeah, i've heard of a lot modern indie-rock, I get it. The good stuff will bubble up and the rest can just continue to be noise.

In high school I sold all my classic rock records, cause i had enough. But you know I've since gone back and bought all the good stuff again. I've been toying with doing that again. Selling all my indie rock from 95 up and then just revisiting it years from now with fresh ears.

It's just played out for me. I've also been deathly afraid of those people who love and listen to the exact same thing they did in high school or college. To me it's emblematic that they're not growing. I have no interest in that.

And hey, all of this is just me. I suppose it's an internal thing that always keeps me on my toes. It's probably a good thing for a music/film "critic."

Yeah, really. Don't you get bored when a filmmaker makes the same movie over and over again? Don't you get restless when an artist doesn't grow and repeats his or herself?

Filmmakers, musicians, artists, etc. When they keep doing the same thing over and over again, yeah, i tend to tune out. I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think that's a completely valid and reasonable criticism.

Pretty much no band/artist completely changes, save for David Bowie, so in reality you're saying, 'If you're a band for more than ten years, chances are I'm gonna tune you out/give up on you."

Another problem is, most of these bands/artists are like you and also get bored with things quickly. They are always searching for new stuff, and after they absorb it, they think it's influenced and changed their music. Bono actually thinks he's making completely different records each time out.

Great band, but is there a difference between their 5th and 7th albums?

Stereogum, et al all bores me to tears.
