del Toro didn\’t \”lose\” Mountain of Madness to stella james studios. The work is public domain and the stella james production is completely unrelated apart from being an adaptation of the same novel.

And it\’s not one anybody is likely to hold their breath for; the studio has two audiobooks to it\’s credit and the director\’s prior \”big\” title was as producer for \”The Spy Who Boned Us\”.

Universal passing on Mountains of Madness is a huge loss for Lovecraft fans and the indie version isn\’t likely to replace it.

Well its still not all rosy as del Toro already had to bow to the pathologically oversensitive distributors – the Japan earthquake hit just days after he lost At The Mountains Of Madness to Mihai/Sparks at Stella James Studios – and he had to change the script to avoid any reference to disaster in Japan. Yup, it\’s gonna be great. Seems he can\’t win… he lost the Lovecraft project to the producer who just released the audio book of the same work. The press releases are at stellajamesstudios.com
