As Cate Blanchette stated, how one could not recognize CAROL, the extroadinary film and its brilliant director Todd Haynes is beyond comprehension. As so stated, in part from Author: Angela Watercutter, Wired … The beauty of Carol is "in the simplicity of its voice". The movie finds love in the quietest moments: the slightest touch of hands, the laugh that lasts a beat longer than it should. And capturing those fleeting images is nothing, if not its director’s life’s work".
It went on to say that it isn\’t only brilliant "in the composition of the shots, nor in the performances of stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara", who both were indeed extroadinary, but brilliant in its capturing the full essense of falling in love and the "discovery of it" being so right and good and rich that is has not a gender, or color or religion or polictical agenda. Just "Flung out of space" as Patricia Highsmith delivered its message and so unexpectedly.

I absolutely agree with Ms. Blanchette.
"Carol" is a deeply romantic, beautiful love story. From exceptional acting, to poetic cinematography, to brilliant, understated emotional directing to a less is so much more sensitive script – this film has an elegance and style all its own. The emotion and impact is incomparable. I fell deeply in love.

Carol was such a beautiful, nuanced and touching film. I wasn\’t surprised it wasn\’t embraced by the Oscars in the top categories, but it still did very well. Six nominations is great especially for a film like this, and it\’s actually more than what Room, Brooklyn and Spotlight got (and they were Best Picture nominees). But absolutely, Todd Haynes deserved recognition for his brilliant work. I\’m glad Cate Blanchett isn\’t selfish and just satisfied with her nomination, she\’s disappointed by the snubbing of her deserving collaborators and spoke out about it. Good for her.

It must be hard for Blanchett to understand that Carol is cold and boring. Resonating with critics doesn\’t mean you made an entertaining film. Critics raved about Kristen Stewart in Sils Maria, but she just played herself, with all her loud exhaing, head shaking, lip biting ticks that she always does in every single film. She didn\’t act, she just played herself and the critics ignored her lack of ability to create a real character. Cate and Rooney were very pretty in Carol, and they both created real characters, but overall, the audience and the Academy just didn\’t care enough about them. People also need to understand that early buzz is often hype and doesn\’t last.

Hegarty\’s letter is so vulnerable and honest, it\’s heartbreaking. A reminder the issue people casually bitch about on comments feeds causes real pain and damage. What is being fought against is truly monstrous, and the shadow cast is toxic.
