Revolutionary Road might be one of, if not, the, greatest American novel ever written.

The trailer looks like it's keeping up with the emotional brutality of the book, and I really really hope Mendes stays true to Yates ending. I think this movie is becoming more and more relevant everyday with the shape our country is in.

It's too bad Yates couldn't be alive to see the film come to fruition. He fought for almost 30 years trying to get the rights, script, all of that into the right hands.

DAMN. That was my favorite trailer yet for the film. It really seemed to showcase Leo's acting, something I am not a giant fan of, but also something I think he can do well at certain times (The Basketball Diaries, Gilbert Grape, The Aviator). Makes me wonder if he won't get his first little statue this time around considering how weak the year seems to be, and how there is no shoe in like Daniel Day Lewis. And someone does need to just give Deakins and Newman their respective Oscars already. Both have been nominated a gazillion times and never won, though deserving too (Jarhead, Meet Joe Black). With Button getting some flak recently, this might be the new Oscar forerunner.

And one more thing. How could someone not care much for Mendes thus far?? He's one of the best director's working today along with Nolan and Fincher, and hasn't made a average film yet. Not a bad one but just an average one. And it doesn't look like he's going to.
