Dave clearly hasn\’t read the book. It\’s anything but generic, it\’s one of the most iconic and distinctive serial killer pieces ever, up there with SE7EN andMANHUNTER/"Red Dragon". Thank goodness it never got brutalized and gutted into a feature film, it was always suited to being a 10-hour miniseries. I\’d describe THE ALIENIST as TRUE DETECTIVE meets THE KNICK (it\’s no accident, as one of the writers of THE KNICK said in an interview that he previously worked on the abortive feature of THE ALIENIST). Since this miniseries is from the same team as those shows, it\’s in good hands.

since when has anything Fukunaga works on dull, generic, or a waste? he\’s one of Hollywood\’s top talents and i\’d watch anything he directs.

This sounds like a dull waste. Would rather see Black Count and IT before another generic crime show. Cant believe this is the one you would rather see him do first
