This is a smart move for Blanchett. As Tarantino\’s recent remarks about her demonstrate, she has a weakness with perception as someone who plays mostly members of the elite. Marvel tentpole- there\’s no better way to demonstrate you\’re one of the people.

There\’s a lot to said for that comment above ^ I actually agree. Also I\’d be entranced by Cate reading the phone book so I\’m suddenly invested in Thor 3, which is the last thing I expected. On the same line of thought, Carol is the best thing I\’ve seen this year, and her acting is second-to-none, so I just know she\’ll destroy (in a good way) whatever role she\’s been given.
