A celebrated actress and Oscar nominee, you might think that Carey Mulligan wouldn’t be wanting for great and complex roles. This spring she leads the ensemble in Thomas Vinterberg‘s "Far From The Madding Crowd," and later this year, she’ll be a key player in "Suffragette," which details the days of the early feminist movement in the U.K. But for Mulligan, her participation in the latter picture only underscores an ongoing problem.
And she doesn’t stop there, saying the film industry still has a very big issue on its hands. "In terms of the amount of interesting roles there are for women it’s obviously massively sexist," Mulligan stated. "There’s a lack of material for women. A lack of great stories for women."
