I just watched this on Netflix and I am haunted by it. There is a world of meanings and symbolism in this film and so much to think deeply about. If people quickly dismiss it, they're missing the beauty and the challenge contained in each scene, each bit of dialogue, each silent expression. I found Lucy's nakedness to be stunningly beautiful, like admiring a lovely painting of a perfect form. Altogether enchanting.

I hate when someone says that when an actress shows her tits she is only \’being an exhibitionist\’. It\’s worse than saying they are brave. And also not usually accurate.

I hate when critics call showing your tits \”brave\”. Any movie with female nudity is called \”brave\” but they don\’t call porn stars or male nudity \”brave\”. I wonder why. To me brave is joining the military, walking down the streets of gang territory late at night or jumping into shark invested waters. Flashing your breasts is not brave, it\’s called being an exhibitionist.

Only commenting now but read this on my phone as soon as the review was tweeted out…

This was one of the titles I was most anticipating hearing feedback from and I have to say, compared to all the other Cannes folks whose reactions/reviews I\’ve read today, this is by far the most well thought out, interesting and fair-sounding assessment. Pieces like this are why you guys are one of the few true go-to\’s for all things cinema on the web. And the fact that such a well-written and constructed piece was turned out so soon after the screening, when others were only mustering kneejerk \”Cannes amateur\” tweets kind of blows my mind. You guys will be, along with Guy Lodge, my primary source for all things Cannes from here on out. Keep up the great work! Those of us stuck in places far from the Croisette who wish we were there greatly appreciate it!

Why? I wouldn\’t call this anything like Secretary, sure she was willing to give over control, but not entirely. In this film she is drugged and then used a toy to this perverted old men. I\’m tired of films with their female subjugation. I know the director is a woman, and that\’s supposed to mean finally we see it through their eyes and it\’s not just men showing this. I don\’t care, enough already.
