How can she dismiss the female characters as plot devices only to serve Aydin\’s character. The women portray an honest reaction to the male psyche. I think this critic just doesn\’t like men even when they are negatively portrayed.

Very accurate review. There are always wonderful things in Ceylan\’s films but his chronic problem with overwriting often ruins the overall effect. As a viewer I find it difficult to ever really enjoy Ceylan\’s work as real life. In too many scenes this very intellectual director striving much to hard to make great art is present right there along with the actors.

I totally agree with this critic\’s review that accurately echoes my own response. The unrelenting tedium; the self absorbed characters who had nothing of any interest to say; and the absence of narrative flow, are just a few issues I have with the film. The scenery was lovely.

Thanks for your critique. I left the cinema wanting to pull the flesh off my arms, it was unbearably self indulgent. But yours is the only review I agree with. Everyone else is raving about it but I think it\’s an element of the emperor\’s new clothes. I thought it was unfocussed, lengthy and self indulgent. It looked good and had a great location, but I\’m left bewildered.

I don't know if Ms Kiang and I watched the same move. I hope note…. The dialogs couldnt be more realistic. Through the movie I felt like I was secretly spying a conversation.

It would be best if Ms. Kiang watched and reviewed rom-coms only. Strike that. Anyone who writes this kind of an idiotic review for one of the best movies in a long time should not be allowed anywhere close to a movie theater.

Ridiculous review. "the performances are strong (bar a scene between Aydin and Nihal in which Bilginer suddenly plays Aydin as so one-note patronizing and condescending toward his young wife that we just wanted to punch him)"; So whenever you have an urge to punch a character, the performance is bad? What kind of logic is that?
