This is not the worst movie I've ever seen; it is the second worst. Not only is the story/plotline unsatisfying, it seems that Denise made an effort to pile on every possible cliche of a French drama–sex, vagina, rain, rain, more rain, breasts, pathetic women, SPOILER ALERT: protagonist's death before the drama is resolved (in this case it's NOT interesting), add a little incest and female sexual violence (graphic, gratuitous images that still haunt me), and a penis, and voila–a downright stupid, offensive, pointless waste of everything that went into making this. Was Denise deliberately trying to make the worst movie ever made? In my opinion, she almost succeeded!

The movie isn't being misanthropic without purpose. One of the major themes of the movie is "pressure". Every character is under some sort of pressure and applying pressure on someone else. In the realm of pressure, it just so happens "men pressuring women" is the major component, just like in Breillat's "Fat Girl". That's why the movie ends how it ends. It's not hollow, either, or nihilistic, when you view it in this way. There's a lot going on.
