I attended the premiere of Snow in Paradise in Cannes and found your reviewer's comments to be wholly inaccurate. Was she even watching the same film? This film is gripping, thought proking, beautifully made and highly watchable. Ms Kiang's criticisms are bizarre, indeed, the vitriole that is doled out suggests she even derives a sadistic pleasure from her comments which go far beyond critique.
By the way, the film received a standing ovation.

Miss Kiang is this so difficult to understand that Islamic and Muslims are not so bad as the americans are always trying to show us manipulating with your politics and media strategies? I reckon that's why your review transpires frustation.

I went to see this film yesterday and have no idea what this reviewer is talking about. This is an engaging and tense film, and I was gripped throughout. The only thing tired and cliche is this stupid and badly-written review.

Just stumbled upon this review and for the sake of balance i feel the need to comment. I refute the reviewer's contention that a steady stream of journalists drifted out of the screening. In fact, I was surprised there wasn't far more walk outs. Having watched Cold in July the previous evening in the Director's Fortnight section I found myself wondering what was the festival's thing for cheesy crime dramas?
I also wonder if To Cigano's post is in fact directed not at the review but at the previous post by Elise Clifton-Ward, because Snow in Paradise was indeed a load of bollocks.

Engaging? Thought provoking?
Really? How? Where? Because i didn't see any of that.
All i saw was an overly showy, cliche-ridden and facile piece of work.
