IMO About Schmidt is Payne's masterpiece. Those final moments with Nicholson are emotionally wrenching, beautiful and uplifting. Election is also pretty damn great. His other movies are good but nothing can touch those two.

Wow another film that fails to live up to its hype! But then again, I found The Descendants to be HANDS DOWN the most overrated and over hyped film of 2011. Has Payne made a truly great film since Sideways? Election is his still his best IMO. Good review, nonetheless. I'm expecting The Immigrant to fall on its face as well since none of the films I've been looking forward to are living up to their pre-release hype 🙁 At least we will always have Inside Llewyn Davis…
