Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai definitely deserved that slot. It was one of his most restrained and beautiful films. But if that didn't get awards, I doubt any of his films will.

FYI, on the interview with Ben Wheatley that just went up, everything below the title is unresponsive for me and the page background is grey and misaligned; I couldn't click through to the 2nd page and I couldn't leave a comment (hence this).
