The director\’s cut of Nymphomaniac deserves to be in the year\’s top ten. Maps to the Stars has a shot of achieving Crash-like status in years to come. Not for everybody, but I could see it being one of those Cronenbergs that really catches on.

I have no words for anyone who believes Nymphomaniac to be one of the best films of this or any other year. Auteurism is a brain disease, a tic–not a sound critical position. Because when an auteur falls hard, for whatever reason, as Von Trier has fallen for the first time in this listless and pointless movie, the auteurist will cheer even louder. nymphomaniac and maps to the stars? ouch. glad to see under the skin getting some award/best of recognition, though,as it was easily the year\’s best sci-fi. i have never understood the appeal of miyazaki\’s animations, but that\’s neither here nor there. just not my thing.

and it\’s not the first time the Cahiers included TV in their top, in fact ten years ago they included the first season of 24 in there
