All the trades called it a big flop, fyi. It opened on like 3000 screens. And as person above mentioned, even the non-starter Woman In Black 2 opened to more — that\’s kinda of embarrassing. And CP was twice the budget.

Paulo? You kidding me? Crimson Peak at 12.8 opening domestically is a huge flop… You want to know why? Because even Woman in Black 2… yes 2… with no stars opened with 15mil, and Mama… yeah. Mama… opened with 30 mil plus. Just hope you\’re not a professional producer.

I wouldn\’t call Crimson Peak a huge flop. It\’s definitely not on the Pan level and even compared to smaller films, The Walk looks to be doing worse. Del Toro does have a following which will help it for DVD sales, and I\’m sure it will get Oscar noms for costumes and art direction (which it should win), so that\’s good for the studio. Btw, how can The Walk get "crazy noms in the VFX categories?" Last I checked there is only one FX category, and I doubt it does get nomed there. Now maybe in the tech Oscars it might do some damage.

Even though "Crimson Peak" undeperformed, i wouldn\’t call it " a huge flop". Predictions were about $15,000,000 and it still has to open in key markets like Mexico, Italy, japan and Korea.
