In a fair world, maybe this would be an indication that STEVE JOBS–which I hated–should not "score a big uptick from guaranteed Golden Globe and Oscar nominations." JUST SAYIN!!!

Nobody said The Martian is a comedy. It most certainly isn\’t. But what is 100% true is the fact that Fox is campaigning the film in the Comedy/Musical category because they know they have a much better shot. That means if it gets any nominations at all, it will be in those categories because that\’s how Fox submitted it. It has nothing do whether you *think* it\’s a comedy or not. It\’s not going to "land" in drama.

Also, lol, there\’s a whole paragraph and headline about Steve Jobs underperforming.

What planet are you on? Just because a drama gets some laughs (or features Kristen Wiig) does not automatically make it a comedy. "The Martian" will land in drama, just like the lost and abandoned tale, "Cast Away".

On first viewing, I might have said The Martian was a comedy. But I\’ve seen it twice more, and while it has a great deal of humor, I don\’t think it really qualifies. American Hustle barely did.

The Martian will be competing in the Comedy/Musical category of the Golden Globes. Therefore it\’s probably going to get a few Golden Globe nominations and could even win a few. That will give it the false perception that it\’s a Oscar contender or has achieved an Oscar boost, but the Comedy/Musical category is *generally* meaningless in terms of its influence on Oscar.
