This is a great article. I am doing an essay on adaptations and how Hollywood changes books for the better or worse and this helped me enormously. It\’s a good read and clearly a lot of effort was put into to this. I\’d highly recommend both the film and book.

I\’m a bit dismayed to see no comments on this article. I\’m certainly grateful that Kevin put time and effort into writing it. As an on-and-off fan of the Scudder novels who places "A Walk Among the Tombstones" among his best, I had pretty much the same thoughts and saw the film as an adaptation exercise that succeeded in some levels and perhaps wasn\’t so succesful in others but certainly tried its best with panache. Definitely worth checking out.

Saw 6 with Liam Neeson sounds amazing.

I really enjoyed the book as well as the previews to the film. I felt the movie was disjointed and missed the points that humanized the characters. The film was basically Saw 6 with Liam Neeson solving the puzzle.
