I was very disappointed with the story line…very weak. the technical side was great especially the way they portrayed the solar galaxy mapping. But the way the story was told and the outcome was ho-hum…very bland and unsurprising out come. Oh well, not all of Scotts work is stellar next to Blade Runner and Spartacus those were amazingly written and gems of movie folklore. I hope Scott dosent batch up the sequel to Blade Runner that is suppose to be released soon…Please dont disappoint me Scott!

I ran into writer Jon Spaits the other day, and he cleared up a couple things…

First, the alien at the opening was definitely committing suicide on purpose to spread life on earth.
Second, I asked him why they cast Guy Pearce as an old man, and he said that there were scripted, probably shot sequences between David/Fassbender and Weyland, with the latter in a VR world, showing Guy youthful and surrounded by models on a boat, while the reality was old Weyland in stasis as he flew on the ship.

David was the best character in the film, despite the fact that he was an android. This illustrates how essentially soulless this film was. 'Prometheus' is certainly at times a good-looking film, at others an ugly one, and contains the occasional shock and a number of stomach-churning moments for the squeamish; but it is underscripted, underplotted and lacks a satisfying conclusion. Fabulous movie and a gorgeous book. This movie is not for everyone, IT'S NOT ALIEN! He has not remade Alien! if you want to see Alien then go and watch Alien again! This is Prometheus, different kind of movie, same universe but not the same as Alien which I love. Alien is a 34 year old movie, it's brilliant but dated, this is a true 21 century sci-fi epic that ties in nicely and explains SOME things in the Alien movie but not everything. Yes there are some mistakes and flaws but you should not let it ruin the movie for you, there are flaws in every movie! This is a great book that explains many of the rationale behind the movie and showcases the design and production. Ps: Prometheus is not ALIEN!

I was really disappointed at how this film turned the Space Jockeys into yet another race of scary aliens coming to kill us. I prefer the 70s interpretation of them from 'Book of Alien'.

I thought it was made clear in interviews with Pearce and Lindelof that Pearce was hired to play Weyland back when the screenplay still contained a scene with him as a middle-aged adult man. However, that scene was later removed from the shooting script, so all we see of Pearce in the film is him in the old-age make-up. There's still that mock TED video, though.

Uh, excuse me. Citizen Kane does not have bad old-age makeup. Citizen Kane has some of the greatest aging makeups in the history of cinema.
