Christmas is the perfect time for Star Wars to come out. May and summer are always so crowded with other sci fi and super hero movies. Star Wars should separate itself from that crowd and moving to December among the more serious Oscar bait dramas will do that. This is going to be a massive blockbuster and I think it'll make more money in December than it would in May.

If Kathleen Kennedy asked for the film to be pushed to 2016 a likely May release would've been what they (the creative team) had hoped for that year, whereby a December '15 release will only compress their timeframe for any "quality optimization;" instead Igor makes it sound like they're given exactly that, more time, in reference to the consideration of a May '15 release. Obviously a sneaky way to make it sound like a win-win situation when there seems to be more indications of the opposite.
