The complete lack of mention about Chalky\’s daughter in the S4 recap and no mention of it in this episodes recap is frustrating. Chalky\’s witness of that act could precipitate any number of scenarios that led to his current situation on a chain gang. No mention of the effort to take out Nacisse by Harrow either..

The central conflict is obvious, brutal and sad. Luciano and Lansky , with Capone organize the five families into the secret organization, cosa nostra. Organized Crime is born and Nucky is not wanted and rubbed out, not killed but controlled. Like diving for gold coins as a boy, he never reaches his ambitions.

I'm excited to see the resolution of this story, but I wonder how they'll go about tying up all the loose ends with so little time. If you research the characters' real life counterparts, it may end up that instead of enemies, Nucky will become a partner/business associate of the Meyer, Lucky, and the rest of the gangsters from New York and Chicago.

Factual error in this article: the assassination attempt killed Chalky's daughter, not his mentor. Otherwise, this is a badly written article. Not an easy read.

Pretty obvious the central conflict of this season is Luciano/Lansky/Maranzano now targeting Nucky Thompson and getting rid of him to further their own goals. We all know how the Luciano/Lansky/Maranzano story will play out, but it's clear they've made Lucky & Meyer, Nucky's major enemies for this final season.

This writer is a dolt. The central conflict is revealed. Did the writer miss Nucky saying hello to Meyer Lanksy's wife? Well, yeah, it turns out that wasn't Lansky's wife. Nucky gets attacked and Lanksy is there? Just a coincidence right?

Wow-different point of view here. I couldn't help but draw parallels in this season opener to the Godfather, and if one is to be compared to something-it doesn't get better than that. They go forward and they go back. There's illumination. Gangsters are not one-dimensional. They escape death until they meet it. And they almost always meet it. I think the flashbacks of Nucky's childhood give the viewer the context they have not had. How did he become the charismatic criminal kingpin he became? Perhaps the writers are building up to a resurrection-is it possible that Nucky has redeeming qualities worthy enough of forgiveness?
In my opinion the episode was superb in its subtlety. As always, so is the styling and the acting. My biggest regret is that this series is ending. It shouldn't be. It should go on for years. One of the best written, richly complex, beautifully acted series on all television. Unforgettable.

Wow…did you forget that Chalky's daughter was killed right in front of him? Boardwalk engages in is really smart subtle storytelling. The pace is wonderfully drawn out, making the emotional payoff so much better when you're immersed in the intricate details created by the shows production team. And yeah, Meyer was clearly there to hit Nucky and there is so much going on with Patricia Arquette's character. I can't wait to see more of her interactions with Nucky. They have great chemistry. This show is amazing.

You may not have picked up on it, but Lansky was likely behind the attempt on Nucky's life at the train station. In their first Cuban encounter, Meyer makes mention of being there with his "wife", motioning to a woman in the distance. The same woman was in the last scene with Nucky at the bar, clearly a prostitute.

There's your setup of conflict for Season 5, pay more attention if you're going to write a slightly negative review. Boardwalk consistently sets things up without throwing them in your face.

Interestingly enough, I actually thought that was one of the better episodes of Boardwalk in quite a while. If more episodes were actually written with that much character depth, maybe the show wouldn't have been the disappointment that many have considered it to be. That being said, with only 7 episodes left, they do have alot to tie up in a hurry.
