I've liked Blade Runner since it first came out and have always preferred the narration version. I could care less what the general consensus is in this regard. I didn't much care for Scott's so-called Final Cut Director's Cut or whatever. These situations are intriguing as I worked for 40 some years in the film industry and have always thought director's should have final cut. However, this particular film blows that out of the water for me. Same with Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. I loved it when I first saw that film which I suppose was the studio cut. Still love that version. I hated, I mean hated, Peckinpah's cut with all the black and white flashbacks, etc. It was a mess! Still, I would not be able to make a film with the studio having final cut. These two films are the exception(s) rather than the rule for me. Plus I doubt I'll watch this latest Blade Runner thing until it comes around on cable. I've seen the trailers and have not liked what I've seen. They are trying to ride in on the coattails of a very original and very well done film and they are not up to the task in my opinion. They will never match the great Vangelis score of the original...or the tone and the feeling and the existential nature of the first film. Never. That sensibility is long gone. Even Scott himself no longer has it as evidenced by his two latest Alien debacles.
