I don't understand why did they make this a prequel. The actors are getting older, if the the show lasts it's going to get weird at some point. Breaking Bad premiered six years ago.

I would have ignored the Breaking Bad timeline, as if it never happened. It's fiction! there's no rule about maintaining different shows in the exact same universe.

I don't get why there are people out there hoping to see Jesse – or Walt! – on the show.

Those two characters had their stories told (and completed) in one of the most memorable ways in recent television history. Bringing them back as glorified cameos, I think would do a disservice to the characters. Hopefully the creators will keep them away from the new show.
