What? He was making sure that everyone knew Moonlight had won – he stepped in, when it seemed like none of the people behind the scenes were doing so, to make sure that everyone with Moonlight got onstage as quickly as possible. He showed the card with Moonlight on it to the camera to make sure everyone knew what was going on. And then he quickly backed off and let Moonlight have its moment. I’m not sure what you think he should have done…no one else was stepping forward to clear things up. And Barry Jenkins has now praised Horowitz multiple times and talked about how much his classiness meant t him. It really really really sucks that Moonlight didn’t get its full moment in the sun, and Jenkins and the others also handled that fiasco with total grace and dignity (and the one bright spot might be that now, plenty of people will hear about Moonlight winning and maybe be more inclined to watch it), but it seems very unfair to paint Horowitz as anything other than well-behaved.

Sad thing is that it’s not even the Academy’s fault. It’s PWC’s.

Totally. Inspired even, quick-thinking way to save face for his crew and not let the asshats responsible for the blunder retake control of the narrative. And, perhaps, a missed opportunity to fistfight Warren Beatty? Undeserved, but who would have blamed him?

It was Horowitz who did the mic snatching, he further stole Moonlight’s thunder, bullsharking the proceedings. Classy is classy, there’s no sliding scale or relative designation. Of course he had every right to be furious, no debate, but, he could have stepped down and let Moonlight accept their award. Mark Rylance was classy last night.

Given the circumstances, he was very classy.
When you’ve been told you won an award you really wanted, and while your friend is making a speech about “fools who dream,” getting that snatched from you would make me furious.
