One of the worst Nam movies ever--Stone, who was there, fuses his story to exactly the time he was there and when the problems communist infiltration was taking the largest toll on American troops (the draft, Operation "Red Snow" and the cowardly left media reporting bias, particularly with the CBS stable of traitors), but tells the audience this was what the war was like from top to bottom and why we "lost" it (BS, not in combat but by stab in the back politicians kissing @sses of communist dupes of voting age), which it total BS. He shows Black troops as dysfunctional and cowardly, a stereotype that runs for decades in US history AFTER the war is won and the ambitious seek advantage by $hitting on the same comrades that help get them home alive (See Patton and Teddy Roosevelt as prime examples of this pandering lies) and punkas$ butthurt stone keeps that loathsome tradition alive to brainwash future generations with his twisted outlook. Haters (including the commentary from "TV Guide" which is insulting even to this day describing it) talk smack about the John Wayne film "Green Berets" as jingoistic fantasy, when in fact all the scenes are based on actual events!!!. The raid on the camp not only happened, they re-created it in the best place possible other than the original: The training village that was located at the home of the Paratroopers, Fort Benning, Georgia!!. "Berets" was filmed while the war was still going on, had multi tour veterans in the cast and intentionally minimized the politics in favor of the story and sacrifices Americans made to free the oppressed!. The fight between the regular army troops ("Regulars") vs. the Draftees,(like Oliver Stone, John Kerry and their ilk, Draft being something that never should have been done and brought down the previous French Union effort by instituting one!).

I'll be honest, I rewatched Wall Street recently and I just do not understand the love for it, outside of Michael Douglas. There is literally a scene where Charlie Sheen walks out onto a balcony overlooking the city and says aloud to himself "Who am I?"

I'm a fan of Stone's, and he's not exactly known for subtlety, but come on...

The banality of his more recent films is so disappointing. I was always a huge fan of his work, particularly JFK, Natural Born Killers, Nixon and UTurn. Since the latter, his work has lost edge and almost his point of view it seems.

Fun read.

I think Stone's got two absolute Great Films, JFK and Nixon. He was at the peak of his creative powers, had a fantastic cast, John Williams, Robert Richardson, some of the best editing in film history. To watch these films is to experience the possibilities of cinema. Its where his anger and paranoia was finally matched by his material, and got all his cast and crew on the same wavelength.

wow, you're crazy to put Natural Born Killers as the 10th position, even before W.. NBK is one of his best films! The over the top superficiality fits so well the topic of media and the coldness of the characters...
