I find it funny that all of these movies are so generically bad, and then worse. They’re all under top secret lock and key at the studios. No one reads the scripts. (Are there scripts or just character breakdowns and half-boiled synopses?) They sell them — I enjoy their trailers marketing campaign and the trippy colors. And then they come out and– they’re all underwhelming. Especially the case this summer. They make a movie off the marketing and not the story — the marketing on this movie were the characters and chaos. As soon as the plot kicks into gear, you realize there is nothing plotted — just Suicide Squatters quipping along what badasses they are. This is a collective problem with movies today and not just relegated to one motion picture. There are also too many cooks in the kitchen (studio heads, corporate board members, brand property managers, directors, producers, certain actors, “the loyal fanbase” and blah blah blah) too many egos to appease. The studio just want that opening weekend, and that’s it. They just want to get us hooked to make sure we see the next installment in some future pussy “crossover universe” flick that doesn’t add up to anything substantial. The man (or woman) in power doesn’t gives a shit about the shelf life of these things anymore. Yet why do we consistently go out and see things that we’ll forget about in the same constant as we watch it? Because the trailer looks cool. I did like “Cap USA: Civil War”
