I will not stand by and let the summer of 2004 be annointed so highly. It was truly a dark and miserable summer. You forgot to mention the abysmal Van Helsing kicking off things in May. Everything that year was absolutely soulless and unimaginative.

I’d rank 2007 way higher. Had never considered it, but 2002 and 2014 were pretty fantastic.

Love this list but I find your inclusion of a lot of spring movies to be a little suspect.

You also failed to mention one of the biggest movies of summer 2004 and the highest grossing documentary of all time, Fahrenheit 9/11.

And I love The Terminal.

God I hate when millennials write articles like this because to them cinema started in 2006. Obviously, summer 1982 is the clear champion: E.T., Blade Runner, The Thing, Conan the Barbarian, The Road Warrior, Wrath of Kahn, Poltergeist, Tron, Fast Time at Ridgemont High… I mean, come on!!!
