John Byrne had Superman kill Zod in his reboot, but it wasn\&#039;t the first or last time his character was reset. The real issue with Snyder and Goyer\&#039;s Man of Steel is that both writers think Superman is a more complex and interesting character after being unnaturally placed into a scenario where lethal force was &#034;necessary&#034;. If you\&#039;re already resorting to that for Superman\&#039;s first conflict, there\&#039;s either some serious creative bankruptcy in the writer\&#039;s room or Snyder kind of wasted his time including Superman\&#039;s parents if none of the morality they instilled applies to the conflicts he\&#039;s fighting. ]]></description>
