I think people are reading far too much into what people who are no longer involved said in passing. Mendes said no, these two say he & Logan bandied about ideas for 24, and yet we know Logan is writing 24 & 25 together, even if Mendes had input that sticks that doesn't suggest he's interested or going to come back and direct. Pass, give it to Matthew Vaughn please.

Hard drive was recovered when they arrested Silva on the island. He could have sent the list to others though. The attempted hacking of the computer to find out what he did with the list by Q is the catalyst for the rest of the movie afterwards.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps missing Mendes' affirmative comments from a few weeks back about returning to do another Bond.

He's backtracked a little recently. But these comments seem pretty unequivocal about his enthusiasm for doing another, given the right circumstances.
