What\’s fascinating to me is that the New Yorker ran a lengthy article on Anna Faris. I wonder if BWR (publicists) pitched this to Tad Friend (the writer) and then he pitched it to his staffers. I don\’t think anything is shady, but it\’s interesting to note that \”What\’s Your Number?\” doesn\’t come out until September 30, and has zero buzz at the moment. Is this part of a slow and early campaign to build awareness? Just curious, I would love to know the actual machinations behind this.

It is a bit unsettling how much of this post is lifted from the New Yorker piece on Faris. It\’s one thing if a piece is available for free online, but the Faris profile is available to subscribers only and this feels like a slap in the face to the New Yorker.

I apologize if you got permission from the New Yorker, or if I misunderstand how \”these things are usually done\”, but I think it\’s hard enough for a print magazine to get people to buy their publication without having sections lifted and posted on blogs for free. There is the argument \”If we don\’t do it, somebody else will\” but I don\’t think that\’s a particularly good reason.

What a disappointment! The all-star cast couldn't save this piece of tripe from being a huge, formulaic snooze-fest. The entire premise is ridiculous to start with – if a girl has slept with 20 guys (which is no major feat nowadays), who gives a rat's petootie if she sleeps with 21, or 25, or 100?
