A lot has happened on “Outlander” since the show first premiered in 2014. The time-traveling romantic drama has set plots in motion that have spanned centuries, continents, multiple wars, and multiple imprisonments. Unspeakable horrors have happened, as well as unspeakably steamy love scenes. And so, with the arrival of season seven, you naturally have to ask: Where does the show go from here?

As always with “Outlander,” with season seven the answer appears to be “a whole lot of places,” at least considering the four episodes that were provided to critics.

At this point, we’ve all probably seen enough TV shows and movies to convince us that marriage isn’t for everyone. That’s made especially clear in historical works, which often serve to remind viewers that, not that many years ago, marriage was an obligation and occasionally a nightmare.

Cassie Bowden just can’t catch a break. The second season of “The Flight Attendant” finds Kaley Cuoco’s character struggling to stay one step ahead in a frenetic, spy-fueled game of cat and mouse. She’s also trying to stay sober for once, something that she was most definitely not in the show’s first season. The result is a more layered and introspective season than the first, but one that’s still charged with whodunnit intrigue. 

Season two actually doesn’t start off that dramatically.

If Showtime’s new series “The First Lady” is to be believed, being the president’s wife is one of the most thankless and frustrating jobs on the planet. First ladies have given up their own ambitions, livelihoods, friends, and personalities, all in service of their presidential husbands. They exist to remind the nation of domesticity and femininity and basically are meant to be seen and not heard. 

At least, that’s what the show suggests history has always tried to make them.

“Outlander” has really been through it all, as one does when you’re a romantic period-piece time-traveling series. Throughout its run, show protagonists, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe), have been through the wringer time and time again, facing the ravages of time travel, multiple wars, more than a few brutal assaults and imprisonments, and the basic shittiness of living in the 1700s.

Dicks are really having a moment right now. Chris Pontius’ member stomped all over the opening of “Jackass Forever,” Jason Mantzoukas voiced Sebastian Stan-as-Tommy-Lee’s member for “Pam & Tommy,” and now they’re practically members (har har) of the cast of the new HBO Max series “Minx.” 

Here’s the thing, though: While “Jackass” and “Pam” use their male genitalia to sort of shock and bewilder, “Minx” uses it to tantalize and to unify.
