Garfield brings a warm earnestness and passionate vocal skills to the role of writer and composer Jonathan Larson. The film is an adaptation of Larson’s autobiographical one-man musical about the horrors of turning thirty and also follows his artistic struggles leading up to the success of the famed Broadway hit “Rent.

Most of his films are dark and cerebral, featuring characters having an existential crisis in a complex world. Villeneuve frequently operates in gritty dramas or expansive science fiction stories with plots that explore the worst of humanity, such as “Prisoners,” “Arrival,” and “Sicario.”

His latest film brings Frank Herbert’s mythical “Dune” to life.

Back in 2016, Pitt starred alongside Marion Cotillard in Robert Zemeckis’ “Allied” as married World War II operatives with secret identities. Before that, Pitt appeared in David Ayer’s searing World War II film “Fury” about a tank commander and his crew, which features gripping and graphic battle sequences.
