Personally I never liked The Hunger Games films, saw the first in the cinema and the second/third ones on Netflix and found them all to be quite boring. I prefer the Maze Runner series and actually liked the Mortal Instruments film (shame it didn\’t perform well at the box office). Not a fan of the divergent films either, they just aren\’t as good as the books.

@Thomas: Well, yes, of course The Hunger Games is dystopian fiction…and a very good series and film series at that. Divergent is as well, but a very blatant rip off of The Hunger Games and Shailene Woodley is just not the actress that Jennifer Lawrence is. Woodley is bland…not quite Kristen Stewart bland, but bland nonetheless.

The Hunger Games will I believe, stand the test of time, though…great stuff in these films.

It\’s a pity that people think of rubbish like Divergent and Hunger Games as dystopian fiction. They aren\’t. They\’re superhero stories. Their "dystopian" futures (which are anything but believable in almost every particular) are merely devices to allow some beautiful teenager to rise to the occasion and save the world with her trusty bow, or whatever. That\’s not what dystopian fiction is really about. Check 1984 for the real thing.

The YA audience will always be there, but the dystopian aspect seems to have run its course for now. "The 5th Wave" wasn\’t a hit earlier this year, either.
