It\'s funny how the critics let Kaufman get away with his flagrant throwing around of White male privilege in this film. The main character is callous toward lower class people that he deals with, like the taxi driver or the bell boy, and the director asks the audience to sympathize with the rich guy rather than the crude denizens of Cincinnati. I guess he can get away with it because he spouts liberal intellectualisms, and his disregard for others is limited to interactions with other White men, who of course, deserve the abuse and condescension.
