This sounds like it might be a funnier version (given Landis's taste for humor even in horror) of 1985's "The Doctor and the Devils" with Timothy Dalton, Stephen Rea and the completely awesome Jonathan Pryce in a really vicious role... same concept, Burke and Hare (names changed for the film) rob graves for a British doctor's anatomy/dissection interests. Pretty great film produced by Mel Brooks, directed by Freddie Francis (who lensed some of Lynch's earlier work like "The Elephant Man", also produced by Brooks) and based on a older screenplay by Dylan Thomas. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089034/
