The most competitive race, as it has been for the past few seasons actually, is Best Actor. Right now I\’d put the top five as follows: Fassbender for Jobs or MacBeth, Redmayne for Danish Gir, Depp for Black Mass, DiCaprio for the Revenant even though nobody has seen it, and Bryan Cranston for Trumbo. But then following them you have Ian McKellan for Mr. Holmes, Michae Caine for Youth, Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation (unless that\’s supporting), Gylenhaal for Southpaw, Maguire for Pawn Sacrifice, Foster for The Program, Cheadle for Miles, Hiddleston for I Saw the Light, Gere for Time Out of Mind, and more that I know I\’m forgetting. Let\’s just say this could get interesting.

Snowden was just announced to be pushed back to 2016 because it wasn\’t done. I figured that would happen because it didn\’t start shooting until March and we have yet to get a trailer with actual footage.

I would love to see Joel Edgerton get a nomination. He\’s been doing great work for

years. Love to see Saoirse Ronan\’s name in there, too, she\’s another truly talented

actress who actually desrves accolades (too bad she doesn\’t have an aggressive

PR rep the way some wooden actresses who are all hype do). It\’s great to see all the love Alicia Vikander is getting, too, she\’s another one who deserves the praise, she has proved her range and ability to create distinctive characters in a short amount of time. Overall, I think you

have a pretty good perspective on the races.

I know we haven\’t seen much of the film (bar, none), yet it seems to be interesting and potentially an Oscar vehicle, if not for Don Cheadle\’s performance, than for his directing, the screenplay and probably soundtrack, which is said to be composed of "originals"…
