Good films and art in general pose questions. It doesn't spoon feed you answers. People who did't like Prometheus were mostly people suffering from a lack of imagination.

Sorry - you are taking all this WAY to seriously. There was a lot of great stuff about Prometheus, & I don't mean the gore. If Scott delves deeper into the ideas presented in the earlier (Prometheus) film, I'll be there.

I want to know all about the history of all this. I couldn't give a shit about 90% of the Xenomorph/Alien /walking down a dark dripping corridor of dread stuff. We've seen it. It was good. Time to move on.

I don't need to know exact, it's Ridley Scott, Michael Fassbender, xenomorphs, or whatever they're calling them this time, Prometheus sequel, 200 million dollar sci-fi, the list goes on, if you've got something better to do, then what's it to ya?

I can decide perfectly well, honeybunch. I just like to read informed criticism beforehand, so I know whether a movie's likely to appeal to me or not. I bow to your superior intellect, sir, since you clearly know exactly what a movie will be like without reading anything about it.

The reviewer's intention was probably to hit all your soft spots and lure you, specifically, away from seeing the film, since they already knew you couldn't decide for yourself whether to go to a movie or not.

You probably don't recall critics gushing about a movie before they saw it for review. You might however, remember prometheus' awesome marketing campaign. Also calling a bunch of people who make 50 bucks an article a mafia is priceless.

I don't really know what the reviewer's intention was, but this has managed to put me right off the movie. Prometheus tried to engage with some big philosophical questions, but just wasn't smart enough to do that, and this sounds like more of the same. Admissions that Scott is 'not so interested in his own plot or characters' and that we're supposed to experience the movie via 'the calculated figure ripping off the wings of flies with childlike curiosity' and I think I'll give it a miss, thanks.

It sounds perfect to me! I loved Prometheus, that high concept sci fi stuff is far more interesting to me than Bugs in corridors again,Scott already did the greatest possible version of that in Alien,I wanna see what else he's got.

"surprisingly considered ruminations on creators, usurpers, and pretentions of perfection,"

How considered was it?
Anymore then the same old riff on every mad scientist perfectionist with a god complex in sci-fi for the last 100 years?

"After the critical dressing-down of his alien prequel “Prometheus,”"

Ehhh

I seem to recall all the early critics gushing over prometheus at first,
until after everybody saw it and found out it was horrible and then they suddenly "noticed" how horrible it was

Becasue most of the liberal critic mafia dont know or care isht about sci-fi or genre movies, they just know about pushing the latest project so that they will get invited to the next one
