I disagree with the other comments. First off, I do like electronic music genres (e.g., I love Daft Punk), so I do not have an automatic bias, but moreover, I loved AIr\’s music for the film, which is why I ended up on this website, trying to figure out who made that music so I can buy it. When it comes to the pairing of the music with the film , I thought it was perfect. Is it anachronistic ? Absolutely. But Meliere\’s film(s) are so ahead of their time , such classics , as to be timeless. This is why the anachronism is not objectionable to me.

I was exited to watch the restored version of A Trip to the Moon untill the unfortunate music came on… Now, I already have a strong distasted for most techno ttpe music; however, aI felt as if the miss-match sound (have a hard time calling it music) did not fit at all with the flow of the film… Advice would be to mute it and enjoy the great cinematography.

Agreed the Air score was inappropriate on many levels. If anything it just sounded rather bad. I don't really understand why they were asked to do the score in the first place. That said, I like Air but I like a lot of musicians that I would not want to have score a silent film.

Loved A Trip to the Moon and was in awe of the color restoration, but boy that score just did not fit. I have a bit of a prejudice against modern-sounding scores for silent films, but I can't imagine how anyone really thought this was a reasonable tribute to MÃ©liÃ¨s or his film.

But again, if anyone has the opportunity to see the restoration, it's really stunning, and well worth putting up with the score.
