Nearly every one in Denmark (who are called Danes, and are Danish) speak English fine. Arcel has been working hard to get his foot into Hollywood for years. He has hardly just now learned English so as to read these books. Tsk.

@JAKOB above me: Nobody said he learned English "just now". King has been publishing books since the seventies. Arcel could have learned English, or improved his English way back when he was a child/teenager and read fresh King books then.

Lucas Bryant. Bryant has already starred in a King-inspired production (Haven) so King is definitely aware of him. And he fits the part to a T (tall and rugged in a craggy sort of way, Bombardier-blue eyes, the classic Eastwood look).

Being a "huge fan" could go a long way toward keeping this project from becoming the total disaster it\’s bound to be. Personally, I would like to see someone like Peter Jackson or Stephen Moffat, possibly even Joss Whedon inextricably involved in the adaptation to film of my favourite books of all time. Forget the tie ins of other books, the undertaking of the main series of novels should rate some proven talent. I do agree Russell Crowe would make a fair Roland Deschain. 3:10 to Yuma has shown his ability on that track. (No pun intended) But I also think that perhaps the movies, etc should be done after the fashion of Beowolf, thus allowing for the range in ages of some of the characters… send in Clint Eastwood, the actual inspiration, for this one! For the others, I\’m yet unsure, although I do think Alan Rickman could make a good Man in Black.But again, this is my own, very humble opinion.
Bring on the noise, folks! Maybe someone of clout will hear…

Russell Crowe is too broad, James Franco too old. You need some one like Scott Eastwood OR Guy Pearce as Roland, I hate to say it but Robert Pattinson would probably be amazing as Eddie, however, I\’ve been imagining Scoot Mcnairy as Eddie this second time round reading the them.
