If it's terrible, folks will just sniff, turn their backs and walk away. If it's good, and there's really no reason why it shouldn't be, he and Bell may well revive the VM concept and build a franchise or perhaps a new show. Frankly, the writing, direction and dialogue on the original show was sharp enough and funny enough to overcome a whole lot of illwill. I hope this is a success.
