Regarding "The Dark Valley".
Sam Riley as Greider grew up in the US, because his mother fled from Austria. So it seems that the main reason why he was cast was that he is fluent in German, even though he can\’t hide his accent (at least in the Original Version).

Ebert, in his review of "Rio Bravo" on his website: "This formula would prove so resilient that Hawks would remake it in "El Dorado" (1966), John Carpenter would remake it as "Assault on Precinct 13" (1976)"….just the first one I found.

I know how big of a fan Carpenter is of Rio Bravo, but i dont see that many similarities with assault on precinct 13. To call it a remake it is ridiculous

Several John Carpenter films are just re-worked westerns. Some of them are just remakes of "Rio Bravo", like "Assault on Precinct 13" and "Prince of Darkness"
