Thanks for the best comprehensive list of 2009 movies I could find. And while there will be plenty of good movies to see this summer , I can’t wait for all the summer blockbusters to be over so some more…appreciated movies can come out. (Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards looks awesome, and a Scorsese biopic on Frank Sinatra can be nothing but good)

As he himself said, the Herzog movie has absolutely nothing to do with Abel Ferrara’s Bad Lieutenant, I had several friends who worked on it and attested to the fact. If Ferrara is claiming otherwise…well, if you’ve ever seen him interviewed you know that he’s not living in anything resembling reality. Anyway, at this point they’re probably going to change the name so as to stop any continuing confusion…

Just a little appreciation for the ton of work it took to compile 2009in January. Except for Basterds, this year looks like last year. By now you can say this is the first decade of film since Edison that did not produce one Absolute Masterpiece or The Next Great Filmmaker. Is that open to debate?

Rider; in the winter you cover crap, in the spring you cover comedy, in the summer you cover tentpole stuff and in the fall you cover good, award-winning films.

If some of them have great music tie-ins, awesome, but if not, what can you do?

Please tell me about all the great movie-music stuff that happened in 2008. I'm making a list of the best soundtracks, the best movie-music moments, etc. and it's incredibly hard to do.

i like reading the 2007 100x more than i do writing the 2008 one. I feel like i'm working with crumbs.

I had problems with your blog when you left music posts to concentrate on summer ‘comicbook’ fare, but of late, I’ve been admiring your work again. Your breadth of knowledge is admirable, would love to hear more of the music posts, but this is very rich stuff. I like that you mention the director’s name first. Very cool playlist, very cool.

Good rundown.

Bruno is a way funnier character than Borat -- just check out his interview with "Pastor Quinn" (a gay converter) on YouTube.

To be honest, I'm most looking forward to that, Tree of Life, and Where the Wild Things Are. Also, Eric Bana looks eerily like Corey Feldman in that photo for "Time Traveler's Wife."

One film I can’t decide if I want to see or not is James Cameron’s Avatar. Purely based on premise and cast, you could count me out. But since Cameron has apparently been working on this forever, and since it’s suppose to “revolutionize” 3D film, I do wonder what it will be like.

Did you mean to leave Watchmen off the list? It’s marginally anticipated in my book. So is Wolf Man, which is also absent. Now Sherlock Holmes is high on my list to see next year, but not on here. Makes me worry you’re gonna put it in the LEAST ANTICIPATED list. You can put Terminator, Wolverine and Transformers on that one.

A film that hasn’t garnered alot of press, but one I’m eager to see is The Edge of Darkness, Mel Gibson’s return to acting. There was a little talk when Ray Winstone replace Robert DeNiro, but that’s about it.
