This is a pretty good list, though it leaves off one of my relatively recent favorites — Greg Mottola’s sweet Adventureland, which is a charming coming of age comedy that is insightful about the real lessons teens need to learn as they get older (including getting over themselves).

Imo Persepolis deserves to be on top 10. The demographic of teen movies is mostly caucasian teens from first world countries dealing mainly with their personal problems–while Persepolis tackles issues like history, politics, religion, race, gender, all in one girl’s coming-of-age story. And it did so without being preachy or boring. It’s hilarious, witty and heart breaking at the same time. Anyway, if you haven’t watch Persepolis, watch it.

Hopefully this year’s Little Men will join these ranks one day. Alan Clarke’s Scum, whilst maybe an odd and bleak choice, is definitely a teen movie. Shane Meadows’ Somers Town too!

The 'molester aunt' subplot was a misstep, but otherwise, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is sensational. Only #36? For shame.

In reply to Jesse Hammer. Technically speaking the boys in Stand by Me 12 years old so it's not a teen movie.... that has to be logic or the playlist done screwed up big time. Stand by Me is a brilliant movie.

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t seen a lot of the newer movies on this list but the absence of ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘River’s Edge’ is a crime. Those two movies launched more careers than you can count on your hands. And, while a decent film, the 2 spot for ‘Y Tu Mama’ is a little puzzling.

Also, Lea Thompson was not in ‘Adventures In Babysitting’. That was Elizabeth Shue.
