Spike Lee is the best suggestion. His last \”paycheck\” gig, Inside Man, turned out to be one of his best, and he made it much more personal than you would expect. I don\’t know that he\’d do it, except that he hasn\’t been able to get funding for a number of things he\’d like to do, so a decent paycheck for a big event movie might be enough to fund one or two smaller scale, more personal productions.

Brad Bird is far too expensive. A lot of people are doing this same list and most people mentioned are too expensive. This is a ripe opportunity for Marvel, frankly. Starting over with someone cheap who still has talent and they always invest and take risks on left-field choices.

I love the Spike Lee suggestion. A woefully overlooked director who can add some gravitas to the franchise after the two hour advertisement that was Iron Man 2. That being said, Marvel will never hire him. They seem dead set on taking Fox\’s place as the worst studio for filmmakers.

Of the guys that actually have a shot at the job…Matt Reeves, hands down. \”Let Me In\” was really good. The rare occasion where a remake was superior to the original.

I don\’t know what his price tag is or his schedule but I think Mr. Brad Bird would be the absolute perfect choice to helm the next \”Iron Man\” movie.
