I agree that the scene you listed in Animal Kingdom was good, but in my opinion the best cinematic moment in the film was when we are show evil\’s true face in the movie. I am referring to the scene which Ben Mendelshon\’s Pope character murder\’s J\’s girlfriend. It was one of the film\’s most heartbreaking, and horrifying scenes.

For me nothing surpassed the \”accteptance of death\” scene in Toy Story 3 and the \”razor blade killing\” in A Prophet. Marvelous and tense cinema.

The boat scene from Winter\’s Bone was almost unwatchable and definitely unforgettable.

Some ones off the top of my head also trying to be spoiler free:

-In Catfish, when we see Meagan talk in person while Nev is getting his picture drawn.

– The final scenes of The Illusionist, Mother, and Life During Wartime

– The lottery sequence from Waiting for \”Superman\”

– Catherine Keener trying to help disabled kids in Please Give

– The WWII flashback from Shutter Island

– Mr. Brainwash preparing for his show in Exit Through the Gift Shop

-Everyone watching the HBO documentary in The Fighter

– Annette Bening singing Joni Mitchell in The Kids Are Alright

-Going down to the dungeon in Bluebeard

What about the \”Forbidden Friendship\” in How to Train Your Dragon? When Hiccup and Toothless are drawing in the glade and that small, very slight hesistation when Toothless as leans in to allow Hiccup to touch his nose. There are no words, just lovely music by John Powell and expression from animated characters.

-The rapid-fire swearing that got \”The King\’s Speech\” its bullshit R rating.
-The boat scene (trying to be spoiler-free) in \”Winter\’s Bone\”.
-The final few moments of both \”The Social Network\” and \”The Kids Are All Right\”
-And even though the film was okay at best, Michael Shannon in \”The Runaways\” screaming at Dakota Fanning that she needs to scream \”like you want a fucking orgasm\”. It demonstrates, I think, the amount of courage it takes to put so much energy into playing such a loathsome character.

The ending of Another Year. So heartbreaking and subtle. Just breathtaking. Leslie Manville\’s character speaks throughout the entire film except here. And it is here that she says the most.

Also, the ghosts come to dinner in Uncle Boonme and it is strange, funny, sad and brilliant.

The note-passing in The Ghost Writer is refreshingly HItchcockian and the river scene in Winter\’s Bone is pretty good too.
