Yes, you are probably right, but what is the point of the academy or any of these awards if nobody knows what the best films are these days.

Where is ‘Hostiles’, ‘Last Flag Flying’, ‘The Lost City of Z’, ‘Phantom thread'(in major categories – ignored), ‘Mudbound'(ditto) – these are the truly humane films, without a political agenda. Nuff said.
