I understand the love for Lion. It's like the definition of an international film. But I was not expecting the love for Nocturnal Animals. Personally, I did not like the film and I still don't expect Oscars to follow suit. Glad for Hell and High Water, it deserves it. Also glad Hanks didn't get in for Sully. I wasn't impressed. The big question now is what about Silence? Did they not see it? Regardless, this is now a three way race between La La Land, Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea, but in reality (like at the Critics Choice last night), La La is gonna win everything.
