Also, two years ago Affleck turned down a supporting role in Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby' to do 'Argo': did he make the right call? Yes, he's got an Oscar. Yes, he's had box office success. Yes, he received praise from critics. Yes, he's probably being offered more scripts than ever before. Yes, WB has not given Luhrmann any more money to finish his much-delayed production … but was it the right call?

It's funny, early last year I came across a betting site that had Daniel Dy Lewis' odds to win at 9/1. This was long before the trailer or any stills were out and I was soooo tempted to put a big bet on it knowning he would likely win. My bad.

For me, this is the fourth straight year best picture's gone to a fine but forgettable movie that left no impression on me. Slumdog Millionaire, at least I FELT something with that and it was engaging. Nu frowny-face Affleck and a lame reconstruction of a fairly interesting real life event? Skiiiiiippppp.

The award decision makers should definitely be biased for the movies praising their homeland like Argo, Zero dark thirty. Otherwise Cloud Atlas was another movie to look forward for.
